Winamp may not have been the first software MP3 player around (anyone remember using WinPlay3?), but for many of us, it stands out in our memories as how we first started really getting involved with listening to music on our PCs. In the fifteen years since the software made its debut, there have been dozens of new versions released, and it finally made the jump to Android in the fall of 2010. Now Winamp for Android moves up to version 1.3, expanding its functionality with in-app purchases.
The app kicks-off this new integrated store with the release of Album Washer, a tool to help you clean-up your collection of songs. If you’re a bit rubbish at ripping CDs to MP3, Album Washer will help fill-in all the appropriate metadata, making your collection a whole lot easier to sort through, as well as retrieve album art to go with it. For the time being, Album Washer will cost you just one dollar, but expect it to jump back up to $4 soon.
Winamp 1.3 also includes some changes to improve ICS support, fixes some memory consumption bugs, adds new support for Apple lossless audio in the app’s Pro version, and now supports moving the app to a microSD card.
